Credits are an allowance, not a currency

CloudShope Team · Product

Two things get confused constantly, so it is worth saying plainly: you buy in rupees, and you spend in credits. They are not two ways to pay for the same thing.

Everything is bought in rupees

A licence, a plan, a number, a pack of credits — all of it is priced in rupees, invoiced with GST, and paid by transfer, UPI, cheque or card. There is no second currency, and nothing on the platform can be bought with anything other than money.

Credits are what a service consumes

A credit is an allowance against one service: a Truecaller lookup, an SMS, a WhatsApp send. Your plan grants some when it activates, and you can buy more — in rupees — when you need them.

So the balance on your account answers one question only: how much of this service can I still use? It is not money sitting somewhere, and it cannot be spent on anything else.

  • Counted per service, so the number means something on its own
  • Granted by a plan, or bought outright at an agreed price
  • Consumed by use, never by a purchase

Why keep them apart

Because the alternative makes both worse. A single balance that pays for licences and lookups alike cannot tell you how many messages you have left, and it turns every price change into a silent change in what you already hold.

Keeping money as money and allowance as allowance means the invoice says what you paid, and the balance says what you can use. Neither has to be translated into the other.
